Teenage Marriage Dreams

Hi all,
I decided to post an answer to a prompt I got from another group. It really made me think and to realise just how grateful I really am for the life I had been blessed with

Prompt:When you were a teenager, what did you think the person you would marry would be like? What influenced that? Did you end up marrying someone like that?Oh I was a total hopeless romantic. I wanted romance, flowers, moonlight dinners....and all that. I dreamt of a dashing black haired man sweeping in and solving all my problems. I thought if I just found the right guy that life would be perfect.I guess what influenced it was my lack of relationship with my dad and also all the bullying I went through at school. I wanted someone to love me unconditionally and to save me from my tormenters. My husband is definately not the romantic type. He can cook though which is a bonus. He does love me unconditionally and he was a safe place for me to fall. He came into my life just when I needed him. I was at the lowest of lows and it scares me to think what would have happened to me if I had continued down that destructive path. But even though I love my husband dearly and he was my knight in shining armour in my time of need...we fought alot for a long time and at time we were only together for the kids. It wasn't we accepted Christ into our lives and we sought God to provide all our needs that we could truly learn to love each other the way God intended. Luv and Hugs Jo

Hideeho!
Have written anything since last week. Oh I am such a slacker. Well lets see...I'll go through the days.
Saturday.
Jason took me and the kids to Maccas for breaky. Yummo. We haven't done that in ages. We were going to go garage slaing too but there wasn't much on. We did go to one near Belinda and Andrew's place so we dropped in there after. Poor Belinda had to do a runner. She was still in her dressing gown. We hung our there for a while and then went home for lunch via town where we picked up some pies. Oh I also went into King Kong to try to find a stress ball for Seb. I read that it might help him to focus if he has something to fiddle with. Well the only stress ball I could find there was a booby shaped one. I AM DEFINATELY NOT GIVING MY TEN YEAR OLD ONE OF THEM. Anyhow I also came across some scoubi strings. They were big here about 3 years ago. There must be coming back in. I got some. Now I can't stop doing them. Must be OCD. LOL. Took me ages to work out the starter knot though. Now I feel stupid coz it was so easy.
Later in the afternoon we went back to the Humphries. Jason helped Andrew clear some trees and Belinda and I chatted and crafted. She's doing a x stitch and I've just started a scarf for Xan. Now that mine is finished that is. We ended up having dinner there.
Sunday.
Still obsessed with scoubis. Went to church. Came home. Went to the nursery. I got some herbs to plant and Xan got a plant to look after. Jason went over to help my niece with some songs on the guitar that she is playing for Youth group.
Monday.
Jason got obsessed with chopping down trees today. He spent most of the morning clearing. After we went into town. We went to the library and I found some books to read on ADHD. Got the kids some readers too. Went to the Christian bookstore. Found an appropriate stress ball. Got sheet music for Hillsong Kids Super Strong God for Xan and another Hillsong album with Hosanna on it. My favourtie song. Got a mixed worship CD too. Then we had to do the bank stuff. Got a payout amount for our personal loan and had a bank cheque drawn up. Glad to have that out of the road. Sorted out some problem with our new account. Our keycards should arrive soon. We made an appointment to sort out other stuff next week.
Did grocery shopping.
After school the kids and I went to the doctor. I've decided it's time to go off my 'happy pills' aka anti-anxiety/anti-depression meds. I start on a weaning dose on Sunday. Spoke to the doctor about Xan's wasp allergy. He gave me a script for cortisone tablets. She has to take that and the phenergan tablet if she gets bitten again. If it get worse we can consider a course of vaccinations but it's a longgggggg course and until we know how bad the allergy will get we can't risk it. As for Seb the doctor gave me a referal to a pediatrian at the Base Hospital but we'll probably still be waiting a few months to see him. But we simply can't afford to go private.
Xan had her 2nd singing lesson. She's probably going to do 'One Way' by Hillsong Kids for the Eistedford. Shalyn wants her to sing it at Zone in a couple of weeks too.
Tuesday.
Went to Ladies Group. Found a chess club for Seb. He went after school. Seems like he really enjoyed himself. We were slack and got Pizza for tea. I was feeling off colour. (hope I'm not getting a tummy bug) Jason took Xan to Girl's Brigade.
Today.
What have I done today so far. Housework....housework...housework...mostly. Booked an appointment at the vet to have Happy fixed...Don't think he'll be too Happy about that. LOL. Still have heaps to do. I need to pot my herbs. Life Group is tonight. Hope I'm not too tired.
Well that's about it.
Luv and Hugs
God Bless

Teacher's strike ended yesterday, but they're not saying they won't strike again. Xan didn't go to school though because she wasn't well. She was coughing heaps and was all achy. Just a bad cold I think. Was still feeling a bit off myself.
We are both feeling alot better today. Xan went to school. Her class are going to the show on an excursion today so she was really excited about that. I've mainly been catching up on boring stuff like housework today. Still have some to do, but I really need a break. My sinuses are going crazy. Guess it's all the dust I've been stirring up.
I've been thinking alot the last few days. I've realised I still need to work on balance in my life and what's best for me to be focusing on at the moment. I had thought that study was near the top of the list but...it can't be and that took alot for me to admit. I guess because I keep going around and around this merry go round of studying and not studying. Thinking I'm ready then stuffing things up. Well the truth is I just can't balance the other things in my life and study right now. I'm going to take a break of at least a year and focus on balancing everything else. I'm definately getting things more organised at home. The house is fairly clean most of the time rather than fairly messy most of the time. I'm starting to learn to take time out to develop closer friendships...I really found trusting others very hard for a long time. I need to focus on my kids more. If you asked them I'm sure they'd say I spend enough time with them. I have a great relationship with both my kids which I am so grateful for. But I want to spend more quality time helping them with their school work, doing family devotions and playing games with them. Another thing I'm very interested in is Women's ministry. I was asked to organise some fellowship events for the women at our church and I'd also like to get a craft group going at church since so many women enjoy craft. I think that this is something I need to be doing and I want to be doing. But....the most important thing that I've let go is my relationship with God. I really need to improve this. I think I allowed study to take the place of my time with God. I guess maybe because I thought since I was studying Old Testament Intro that it was okay. Well it wasn't okay. I've always had trouble praying. Low self esteem issues mainly. I want to work on this. Learn to talk to God. Make him my best friend. Someone I trust wholeheartedly. Someone I can lean on when I need to. Someone to share everything with.

Luv and Hugs
God Bless

Teacher's Strike

Tuesday 19th May 2009
There was a Teacher's strike today. It's the first one since I left school. They want more money. Now I'm first to agree that teacher's deserve to get paid more for what they do but this is not the time to be demanding it. We are in recession. If the government give them more money then it will come out of something else which will probably mean a loss of jobs somewhere. That's my 2 cents worth anyway.
Well the kids couldn't go to school. Jason decided to take Seb to work with him. Seb loved that idea. Today is Ladies Group at church so Xan came with me. Xan's still not looking real well. I don't feel to crash hot either. We had lunch out at church.
The afternoon was fairly quiet. I tried to nap but it didn't quite work out that way.
We decided not to send Xan to Girl's Brigade tonight. Her cough sound horrid. Couldn't find the vicks either. Have to get some tomorrow.

Guidance NOT

Monday 18th May 2009.
Hi!
Jason's day off today. Dropped the kids off to school. Xan wasn't feeling well but didn't want to miss her violin lesson. I let to let her teacher know to call me if she got worse. Saw Seb's other teacher too and gave her the information regarding innatentive ADHD. She's going to find out how long before he can see the Guidance Counsellor.
Jason and I went over to clean Pastor Dav's house. He's paying us of course. It was pretty grotty. We worked for about 1hour and 1/4 each and got a fair bit done. He only wanted us to do 2 hours between us. We are cleaning every two weeks. I think it'll take a while to get it up to scratch. Dav has a dissabled man living with him so I sort of expected things to be quite grotty.
After that we went over to Belinda and Andrew's place for a visit. I asked Belinda about the Accountablity Partner thingy. She said she'd think about it.
Jason and I stopped at Sauers' Pie for lunch. It was nice just to sit and have lunch with him. Kinda like a date.
Saw Seb's teacher again when I picked the kids up. Apparently there's a shortage of guidence counsellors and it could be another year before he gets seen. His teacher agrees that it sounds like Innatentive ADHD. I'm going to see my GP. See what we can do privately. We definately don't think he needs Medication. It's just not that seriously. His teacher recommended that I research about it on the net and look for techniques to help him. He's interested in joining a chess club so I'm looking into that. The reward chart has captured his interest too so we'll see how that goes too. I'm so glad that he has supportive teachers that are willing to work with me.

Sermon got me thinking

Sunday 17th May 2009
Can't believe I was awake at 6am. I hardly slept last night. I set my alarm to wake me at midnight to give Xan her meds but I was so worried that it wouldn't go off or I'd sleep through it that I couldn't sleep. It wasn't easy getting Xan to take her tablet either. She wouldn't wake up. Probably because of the medication she was given at the hospital. I ended up lifting her up a bit, poking the tablet into her mouth, getting some water in too and rubbing her neck. Guess my time as a vet nurse was quite useful. I finally got to sleep some time after 1am. Yet I still woke up at 6. How annoying.
Jason got a lift into church earlier because he was worshop leading today. I didn't expect to get there for Zone and had planned on getting there by 10.30 for the 2nd service. Xan and Seb had other ideas. Neither of them wanted to miss Zone. Xan was still quite dizzy form the meds but she managed okay.
The sermon today hit hme alot. I realised that I really need to work on my relationship with God more. My relationships with other believers have definately improved. I did realise that it would be a good idea to have an accountability partner. I'm thinking of asking Belinda if she is interested. Prayer is really hard for me. I read the book "The Shack" and I was taken aback by this one woman's habit of caming God Papa. My first thought was that I could never do that. My second thought was that I wish I could. I struggle with even calling Him Father. It all goes back to my relationship with my earthy Dad. I know that. And I know that God is the perfect Father who won't let me down but....but....it's still so hard. My greatest wish is to have an intimate relationship with my Papa God.
Other happening of today. Snoozed this afternoon. The Humphries came around for dinner.

What a Day.

Saturday 16th May 2009
I woke up fairly early this morning. Jason had the Men's Breakfast here this morning and Xan and I were going garage saling. Didn't really find much at the garage sales. Xan bought a doll and I got an orange stuffed frog for Seb's collection. I also found a cute little stuffed lamb that I couldn't resist and a couple of scrapbook albums, a 6 by 6 and an 8 by 8. We went to River then because they had ladies boots on sale for $33. Got a high heeled black pair, a new watch and two scarves (black and white).
The rest of the morning and most of the afternoon was pretty quiet. I picked up Mum about 3.30pm and we went to Station Square. I needed to get some veges for dinner and some cardstock to make up this new reward system. Mum came around then. She was supposed to be staying for dinner but that changed. Explain that later. Mum and I went for a walk around the park and then I started getting organised for dinner. I asked Xanthia to take some rubbish down to the recycling bin. While she was down there she was bitten by something. We later found out it was a wasp. I immediately gave her a phenergan because she had a bad reaction last time she was bitten. 1/2 hour later I was ringing 13 Health because her finger(where she was bitten) had swollen and she was starting to get some hives on her stomach. As I was talking to the nurse the hives spread all over her body. The only part they weren't was below her knees. I dropped Mum home and rushed Xan to the hospital. They took her straight through and gave her some more medication and put her in a cool bath. They said that if I hadn't given her the phenergan her throat would have probably swollen. It was a really scary experience. The medicine they gave her worked really fast and we were able to go home 2 hours later. I had to get up in the middle of the night to give her another dose of phenergan and she had to have 3 more doses the next day.

Cuppa, Chat and Craft Morning

Hi there,
Don't know what to talk about today. Bit of a blaaaah day in some ways. Good in others though. My friend Belinda came around for our Friday morning cuppa, craft and chat. We missed last week coz she was busy. I enjoy our chats. I worked on my scarf a bit more. Then I ran out of wool so worked on the granny blanket I'm making for our bed. We chatted about all sorts of stuff. Life in general. Her MIL who hasn't been well. She's doing better which is good. Also talked about kids. I was telling her about the issues we've been having with Seb. I came across website when I was looking for info on Reward Systems. It was actually about Innatentive ADHD which I'd never heard about before. This is the site http://www.goaskmom.com/ He seems to match the symptoms. I don't want to label him at all. I dunno. I think I may talk to the school counsellor or maybe our doctor or both. Guess I'll see what happens.
I'm planning on sorting out this reward system by this weekend. Should be a big job. I'm going to put it all on a large chart with pockets for the tokens at the bottom. I'll let you know how it goes.
Everthing is achey again today. And I'm ultra tired. Thinking I need an early night. I want to go to Garage Sales again tomorrow so I have to get a decent rest. I don't want to hang around the house in the morning. Jason has the Men's Breakfast here tomorrow. Soon be not around.
Went out for a bit when Jason got home from work. He had to get stuff for the Men's Breakfast and then he took me to Lincraft and I got that ball of wool for my scarf. Can't wait to finish it. I want to wear it on Sunday. I also got some wool to knitt Xan a scarf too. I think she's pretty happy about that.
Although she's not too happy right now. Her friend, Arrabelle was meant to be here at 4pm and it's almost 4.30 and she hasn't arrive. Considering she was meant to only stay until 5pm...I dunno what's going on. Maybe she'll get here soon and just stay while her Mum and I have a cuppa.
Well I gotta go. Things to do and all.
Luv n hugs
God Bless

Wednesday 13th May 2009

I am so sleepy right now. We were supposed to go to Life Group tonight but both Jason and I were way too tired. I didn't sleep well again last night. My darling son's alarm clock went off at midnight...he had moved it and forgot to reset it. I was not a happy camper. I just kept waking up every hour or so after that. Planning on a good nights sleep tonight though I hope. I went to the back specialist today and he put my back in. He told me to take some pain killers with a muscle relaxant in it for the next couple of night at least coz my back was very tight. Those tablet knock me out good so I should sleep pretty heavy. I did 7 laps of the park today too so my body is in desperate need of a rest.
I've had a fairly full on day really. I spent most of it trying to plow through Psalms. You don't realise how long it is until you try to get through it all in one day. I read 1-43 then I gave in and listened to 44-109 from the Audio Bible we have. It gave my a chance to do some knitting. I'm making myself a scarf. I'll have to take a photo of it. I'll try to remember tomorrow. I'm back to reading it now and I'm at 133 or 4. Anyway I plan to finsih it before sleep tonight.
We got a phone call from Seb's teacher today. She's not happy with the amount of effort he's putting into his work. I'm going to see her tomorrow afternoon I think. He can be so frustrating. He's actually very bright but refuses to apply himself. We are thinking of trying a reward system to try to get him to concentrate on his work more. We're thinking of a token system where he earns tokens for good behaviour and good effort and then he can cash them in for rewards, Of course we'll have to do it for Xan as well. I think we also have to come down harder on privilages too, such as computer and playstation time. Right now I'm too tired to really think about it in too much detail.
Time to go now....before I nod off.
Luv and Hugs

Oh and it's stopped raining yippee

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

It's raining, it's pouring

Tuesday 12th May,

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring.

I have a sore itchy throat, and aches and pains

So I didn’t sleep real well last night

My nose is runny, my face feels funny

My muscles feel like I’ve been in a fight

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring.

On Mondays now hubby doesn’t work

Thought we’d pull down the tent yesterday

Cleaned and dried it on hands and knees

Then the rain blew that plan away

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring.

Woke up this morning, drowsy head

Kids are still tucked up in their beds

Dreaming of sunshine, but it’s raining instead

I want to go back to bed

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Son won’t get up and I’m in a state

Decide it’s not my fault if he’s late

Kids’ have to walk to school in the rain

Umbrella’s too small so daughter complains

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Sitting and working on my granny rug

Want to be in bed, snug as a bug

Got to get some housework done

Try to think of someway to make it fun

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Big brother drops in for lunch with me

Caffeine craving, cup of tea

Doesn’t work, feeling slow

Little nap, no, no, no!

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Got to get some study done

Wondering where my brain has gone

Learning about Lamentations

Can often lead to big frustrations

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Vacuuming, mopping,

Wash the clothes

Where the energy comes from

Nobody knows

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Well I mustn’t fell down

And I mustn’t feel blue

Because I still have so much

I have to do

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

What would I do

Without my PDA

I love to use it

To plan my day

But as I look at all the To Do’s

Too many things, it don’t seem right

Oh well get it done with a smile

And to bed early tonight

It’s raining, it’s pouring,

I wish that I was snoring

Remember that God’s with me every day

Helps to brush my cares away.

Monday 11th May 2009

I have been without the computer for most of today....and I survived...wow! We took it over to my brother's this morning so he could put in our new hard drive. Actually I guess you couldn't call it new anymore because I bought it 12 months ago. Hey I know I'm slow and slack. My brother is also getting the kid's computer back up and running too. I'll be so glad when that happen. 4 people and 1 computer can get difficult to juggle.
I got another 5 laps of the park done today so I am quite proud of me. I think that means I'm up to 24 laps now. I would have got more done today but the weather and the kids were against me. Weather because it kept raining off and on, and kids because they were fighting this afternoon and DS had a major attitude. He wasn't too impressed when we refused to take him to karate tonight because of his behaviour. Perhaps he'll think first before doing that again.
That's about it for me today. I'm off to make my version of S'mores. Milk Arrowroot Biscuits, choc chips, marshmallows and a microwave. Yummo.

My Mum's Day

Today is Mother’s Day so Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there. Had an early start again this morning. Would have loved a big long sleep in but it was not to be. DH was doing an item at church today and had to be out there by 8am for practise. I miss having two cars. I got a cup of tea and a nutragrain breakfast bar in bed. The kids came running in with plenty of hugs and kisses. They gave me a Chris Tomlin CD, a bookmark, hand decorated clothes hanger, a pink lunch box and pink measuring cups. After a mad rush to get ready we headed off to church. I dropped DH and the kids and proceeded to Maccas for breakfast. My Mum’s Day treat for me.
Got back to church in time to watch some of the practise then head off for Zone (our Sunday School). I was only planning on staying for the beginning bit and then going to hang out in the Chill Out room. They had plenty of teachers today and I’m a floater usually. But as I was passing Girl Zone (girls – ages 12-15) they called me in so I joined them for the lesson. I had filled in for their teacher last week. They must have enjoyed it.
Church service was next. It was really nice. There were chairs set up around tables and yummy food on each table to snack on. We had three different women speak and Pastor Rob. I loved DH’s item. It was Mountain of God by Third Day. He truly has a beautiful voice. A friend of mine also did an item. She was great too and it was good to see her get past her shyness to stand up there.
I have been thinking about getting DD singing lesson but couldn’t really afford it at the moment. A teenager at church who sings offered to give her some basic lesson for free. That’s great, even better because her mum, a friend will bring her over here for the lessons and we can have a cuppa and chat while the lesson is on.
This afternoon was a bit of a veg out. Barbie “Thumbelina” was on TV so I watched that with DD. Had a short snooze too. Did a couple of laps around the park late this arvo. That brings the total to 21laps.
We had chicken nuggets for tea. They were yummo! Would have preferred for DH to cook me a gourmet meal but if you don’t ask you don’t get. Plus he’s not feeling well.
Well that’s about it. I still have to ring my Mum so I’d better go.
Luv and Hugs
God bless
Jo

Saturday 9th May 2009

I’m writing this on Sunday so things aren’t as fresh in my mind. Things fade away way too quickly for my liking. Would have written it yesterday but kids and DH hogged the computer. I really miss my laptop at times like that. Although I shouldn’t use that as an excuse really because I could have just hand written something down and transferred it to the computer. Oh well…next time I’ll know better…maybe.
Okay firstly, I walked a couple more laps of the park Friday afternoon so my total is now 19.
I got up reasonably early and went to Garage Sales with DH and kids. DS found a small TV stand with storage underneath for his Playstation 2. DD got some back issues of some kid’s magazines. I got a paper recycling kit and some clothes for me and DD. Then we went into town. I went to the library while DH and kids went to the Christian Bookstore to do some Mother’s Day shopping. Borrowed some craft books out for myself, found a few fairy novels and ladybird books for DD (she has a project to do for school) and DS came and got a few novels too. Went home then.
After lunch I took the kids to their school fete. It was a touch dull so we got some fairy floss and went home. Oh I bought a cute little bag and a bookmark before we left. After that I had to go pick up my Mum from town. She is in a craft group and they had a shop open for the two weeks leading up to Mother’s Day. It was closing up and I had to get her gear home. My mum doesn’t drive so I was the taxi this time. Mum insisted I stay for a cuppa. Normally I would have been happy to stay but I really wanted to get some walking in. Oh well. More to do another time.
We had my niece’s 21st birthday party at night. It was an interesting event. My brother and sister-in-law are not together because of his involvement in a church which is really a cult. He did not attend the party which was sad. The rest of my family was there and lots of people from our church. I was a really good night all up.
Well that about all from Saturday.

8th May 2009

Howdee all,

Think I’m getting or perhaps already got a cold. I feel kinda yucky today. I’ve also been a bit testy too. This morning I couldn’t find my purse and I was freaking. I was sure I’d put it in my bedroom but it was nowhere to be seen. The kids were being mildly annoying and I ended up swearing at my daughter. Ugh!!! I was so ashamed of myself. Swearing is something I find detestable. I used to swear a lot I admit but I thought I’d finally broken the habit. I spoke to my daughter after school and apologised for my behaviour. I am so grateful I have such forgiving children. Oh and I forgot to mention…I found my purse. Somehow it had ended up in the bottom of my church basket.
Did a bit of web surfing and found a heap of free printable stationery. Saved some and printed off some for me and the kids. Took up most of the morning. Usually on Friday morning I have a friend come over for a cuppa and we sit and chat and do whatever craft project we are doing at the moment. But she couldn’t come today. So I guess that excuses my lengthy internet time.
DH was home early from work today. He was home by 1pm so I took advantage of having the car and went out. I went into lincraft and bought some wool for this rug I’m crocheting. Then I went to the Christian Bookshop to get a Mother’s day pressy for my Mum and a 21st Birthday pressy for my niece. For Mum I got a book called Australian Stories for Women and for my niece I got a pretty lilac bible cover. I hope they both like them. Then I went to BigW to buy a new kettle. Ours died this morning and then I nearly burnt myself trying to pour boiling water into a mug from a saucepan. Lastly I filled up the car with petrol. Oh I grabbed a few grocerys too.
Anyhow the kids are home from school now and I think DH want the computer soon so I’d better finish up.
Oh as for my walking progress I have walked around the park 17 times so far.

Maryborough Fitness Challenge

Hello peoples of the world. Thought I’d better write something. I’m tired….thought I’d let you know. Don’t know why. Maybe it’s all the exercise. Evil exercise. Actually I don’t think that. Exercise is evil at all. I really need to get fit too. This month I’ve entered the Maryborough Fitness Challenge which is raising money for High School Chaplaincy. A great cause I must say. My two kids are getting involved too. My goal is to walk around my local park 100 times this month. I usually try to walk the dogs around once a day. So I’m going from maybe 30 times a month to 100 times. I think I can do it. I hope. Please pray for me. I so want to get healthy. I am determined this time. And I think I’ve found out that exercise is the key for me. I’m really not a diet person….it really is just die with a t on the end for me. Plus I really hate being told what to do so being told what I can and can’t eat is just out of the question. I’m not hugely overweight anyway. I only want to drop a couple of dress sizes. I also want to strength by back. I have slight scoliosis and my back goes out regularly. I also may have cracked my vertebrae when I fell on the step just after Christmas. This is giving me a lot of grief at the moment. I’m not looking for sympathy at all. It’s just a fact I have to deal with. Well anyhow I have to go and get some more things ticked off my To do list. TaTa Loveys.
