Teenage Marriage Dreams
Hi all,
I decided to post an answer to a prompt I got from another group. It really made me think and to realise just how grateful I really am for the life I had been blessed with
Prompt:When you were a teenager, what did you think the person you would marry would be like? What influenced that? Did you end up marrying someone like that?Oh I was a total hopeless romantic. I wanted romance, flowers, moonlight dinners....and all that. I dreamt of a dashing black haired man sweeping in and solving all my problems. I thought if I just found the right guy that life would be perfect.I guess what influenced it was my lack of relationship with my dad and also all the bullying I went through at school. I wanted someone to love me unconditionally and to save me from my tormenters. My husband is definately not the romantic type. He can cook though which is a bonus. He does love me unconditionally and he was a safe place for me to fall. He came into my life just when I needed him. I was at the lowest of lows and it scares me to think what would have happened to me if I had continued down that destructive path. But even though I love my husband dearly and he was my knight in shining armour in my time of need...we fought alot for a long time and at time we were only together for the kids. It wasn't we accepted Christ into our lives and we sought God to provide all our needs that we could truly learn to love each other the way God intended. Luv and Hugs Jo

Hideeho!
Have written anything since last week. Oh I am such a slacker. Well lets see...I'll go through the days.
Saturday.
Jason took me and the kids to Maccas for breaky. Yummo. We haven't done that in ages. We were going to go garage slaing too but there wasn't much on. We did go to one near Belinda and Andrew's place so we dropped in there after. Poor Belinda had to do a runner. She was still in her dressing gown. We hung our there for a while and then went home for lunch via town where we picked up some pies. Oh I also went into King Kong to try to find a stress ball for Seb. I read that it might help him to focus if he has something to fiddle with. Well the only stress ball I could find there was a booby shaped one. I AM DEFINATELY NOT GIVING MY TEN YEAR OLD ONE OF THEM. Anyhow I also came across some scoubi strings. They were big here about 3 years ago. There must be coming back in. I got some. Now I can't stop doing them. Must be OCD. LOL. Took me ages to work out the starter knot though. Now I feel stupid coz it was so easy.
Later in the afternoon we went back to the Humphries. Jason helped Andrew clear some trees and Belinda and I chatted and crafted. She's doing a x stitch and I've just started a scarf for Xan. Now that mine is finished that is. We ended up having dinner there.
Sunday.
Still obsessed with scoubis. Went to church. Came home. Went to the nursery. I got some herbs to plant and Xan got a plant to look after. Jason went over to help my niece with some songs on the guitar that she is playing for Youth group.
Monday.
Jason got obsessed with chopping down trees today. He spent most of the morning clearing. After we went into town. We went to the library and I found some books to read on ADHD. Got the kids some readers too. Went to the Christian bookstore. Found an appropriate stress ball. Got sheet music for Hillsong Kids Super Strong God for Xan and another Hillsong album with Hosanna on it. My favourtie song. Got a mixed worship CD too. Then we had to do the bank stuff. Got a payout amount for our personal loan and had a bank cheque drawn up. Glad to have that out of the road. Sorted out some problem with our new account. Our keycards should arrive soon. We made an appointment to sort out other stuff next week.
Did grocery shopping.
After school the kids and I went to the doctor. I've decided it's time to go off my 'happy pills' aka anti-anxiety/anti-depression meds. I start on a weaning dose on Sunday. Spoke to the doctor about Xan's wasp allergy. He gave me a script for cortisone tablets. She has to take that and the phenergan tablet if she gets bitten again. If it get worse we can consider a course of vaccinations but it's a longgggggg course and until we know how bad the allergy will get we can't risk it. As for Seb the doctor gave me a referal to a pediatrian at the Base Hospital but we'll probably still be waiting a few months to see him. But we simply can't afford to go private.
Xan had her 2nd singing lesson. She's probably going to do 'One Way' by Hillsong Kids for the Eistedford. Shalyn wants her to sing it at Zone in a couple of weeks too.
Tuesday.
Went to Ladies Group. Found a chess club for Seb. He went after school. Seems like he really enjoyed himself. We were slack and got Pizza for tea. I was feeling off colour. (hope I'm not getting a tummy bug) Jason took Xan to Girl's Brigade.
Today.
What have I done today so far. Housework....housework...housework...mostly. Booked an appointment at the vet to have Happy fixed...Don't think he'll be too Happy about that. LOL. Still have heaps to do. I need to pot my herbs. Life Group is tonight. Hope I'm not too tired.
Well that's about it.
Luv and Hugs

Teacher's strike ended yesterday, but they're not saying they won't strike again. Xan didn't go to school though because she wasn't well. She was coughing heaps and was all achy. Just a bad cold I think. Was still feeling a bit off myself.
We are both feeling alot better today. Xan went to school. Her class are going to the show on an excursion today so she was really excited about that. I've mainly been catching up on boring stuff like housework today. Still have some to do, but I really need a break. My sinuses are going crazy. Guess it's all the dust I've been stirring up.
I've been thinking alot the last few days. I've realised I still need to work on balance in my life and what's best for me to be focusing on at the moment. I had thought that study was near the top of the list but...it can't be and that took alot for me to admit. I guess because I keep going around and around this merry go round of studying and not studying. Thinking I'm ready then stuffing things up. Well the truth is I just can't balance the other things in my life and study right now. I'm going to take a break of at least a year and focus on balancing everything else. I'm definately getting things more organised at home. The house is fairly clean most of the time rather than fairly messy most of the time. I'm starting to learn to take time out to develop closer friendships...I really found trusting others very hard for a long time. I need to focus on my kids more. If you asked them I'm sure they'd say I spend enough time with them. I have a great relationship with both my kids which I am so grateful for. But I want to spend more quality time helping them with their school work, doing family devotions and playing games with them. Another thing I'm very interested in is Women's ministry. I was asked to organise some fellowship events for the women at our church and I'd also like to get a craft group going at church since so many women enjoy craft. I think that this is something I need to be doing and I want to be doing. But....the most important thing that I've let go is my relationship with God. I really need to improve this. I think I allowed study to take the place of my time with God. I guess maybe because I thought since I was studying Old Testament Intro that it was okay. Well it wasn't okay. I've always had trouble praying. Low self esteem issues mainly. I want to work on this. Learn to talk to God. Make him my best friend. Someone I trust wholeheartedly. Someone I can lean on when I need to. Someone to share everything with.

Teacher's Strike
Tuesday 19th May 2009
There was a Teacher's strike today. It's the first one since I left school. They want more money. Now I'm first to agree that teacher's deserve to get paid more for what they do but this is not the time to be demanding it. We are in recession. If the government give them more money then it will come out of something else which will probably mean a loss of jobs somewhere. That's my 2 cents worth anyway.
Well the kids couldn't go to school. Jason decided to take Seb to work with him. Seb loved that idea. Today is Ladies Group at church so Xan came with me. Xan's still not looking real well. I don't feel to crash hot either. We had lunch out at church.
The afternoon was fairly quiet. I tried to nap but it didn't quite work out that way.
We decided not to send Xan to Girl's Brigade tonight. Her cough sound horrid. Couldn't find the vicks either. Have to get some tomorrow.

Guidance NOT
Monday 18th May 2009.
Hi!
Jason's day off today. Dropped the kids off to school. Xan wasn't feeling well but didn't want to miss her violin lesson. I let to let her teacher know to call me if she got worse. Saw Seb's other teacher too and gave her the information regarding innatentive ADHD. She's going to find out how long before he can see the Guidance Counsellor.
Jason and I went over to clean Pastor Dav's house. He's paying us of course. It was pretty grotty. We worked for about 1hour and 1/4 each and got a fair bit done. He only wanted us to do 2 hours between us. We are cleaning every two weeks. I think it'll take a while to get it up to scratch. Dav has a dissabled man living with him so I sort of expected things to be quite grotty.
After that we went over to Belinda and Andrew's place for a visit. I asked Belinda about the Accountablity Partner thingy. She said she'd think about it.
Jason and I stopped at Sauers' Pie for lunch. It was nice just to sit and have lunch with him. Kinda like a date.
Saw Seb's teacher again when I picked the kids up. Apparently there's a shortage of guidence counsellors and it could be another year before he gets seen. His teacher agrees that it sounds like Innatentive ADHD. I'm going to see my GP. See what we can do privately. We definately don't think he needs Medication. It's just not that seriously. His teacher recommended that I research about it on the net and look for techniques to help him. He's interested in joining a chess club so I'm looking into that. The reward chart has captured his interest too so we'll see how that goes too. I'm so glad that he has supportive teachers that are willing to work with me.
